Sweet Conversations: Inside the Midwest Craft Chocolate Festival

We recently chatted with Dustin Cornett of the Chocolat Café in Rushville about the upcoming Midwest Craft Chocolate Festival – the first of its kind in Indiana!

An event that celebrates all things chocolate. It brings together chocolate makers from around the world to showcase their creations. Attendees can sample a variety of chocolate treats, learn about the chocolate-making process, and shop for unique sweets.

The festival will take place in downtown Rushville from November 22 – 23.

At the fair, you’ll find vendor booths from regional and international chocolatiers offering samples and products for purchase. There will also be demos by expert chocolatiers, chocolate-tasting sessions, workshops on chocolate-making, and interactive exhibits that explore the history and production of chocolate.

Yes, the fair is family-friendly, and offer activities for kids, such as chocolate-making classes and chocolate-themed arts and crafts.

There will be three ticketed sessions:

Friday: 4:00-7:00 (Taste & shop, Children’s Corner; No classes will be held on Friday) – $8

Saturday Morning: 9:00-12:30 (Taste & shop, classes & workshops) – $8

Saturday Afternoon: 1:30-5:00 (Taste & shop, classes & workshops) – $8; VIP Pass is $35 and includes all 3 sections and a canvas tote-bag with a $10 chocolate voucher & other surprises

Children 5 & under are free and kids 6-12 are $4

Yes! Most vendors sell a range of chocolates and truffles that you can buy to take home. Some vendors may also sell gift items or offer special fair discounts.

Most vendors accept credit and debit cards, but it’s always helpful to bring some cash just in case.

Absolutely! The fair offers demos and workshops led by expert chocolatiers. You can learn about chocolate tasting, tempering, making chocolate truffles, and even the bean-to-bar process. Check the event schedule to plan which sessions you’d like to attend.

There is nothing required but, it might be a good idea to being the following. Bring a reusable shopping bag for your chocolate purchases, a water bottle to cleanse your palate, and possibly a small cooler or insulated bag if you plan on purchasing chocolates to take home, as they may melt.

Tickets are available online through the event’s official website. It’s a good idea to buy tickets in advance since the fair can sell out, especially for special sessions or VIP experiences.

The fair will have on-site parking, although it may be limited. Be sure to check the event details to plan accordingly.

There will be special booths that offer chocolate pairings with beer. The beer tasting will be limited and restricted to people over the age of 21.

Yes, there will be a booth with limited beer tastings and honey tastings. There will be one chocolatier there that will give a presentation and tasting of how they use honey to make their chocolate.
