Trivia

For basketball aficionados, Henry County has three special destinations within 16 miles of each other: the Hoosier Gym in Knightstown (famous as the home of the
movie Hoosiers), the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame (basketball museum), and the New Castle High School Fieldhouse (largest fieldhouse in the world).

Wilbur Wright, one of the greatest early pioneers of flight, was born in eastern Henry County. The Wilbur Wright Birthplace and Museum in Hagerstown honors his
birthplace, family and accomplishments.

Get to know Henry County

Ambassador: Carrie Barrett

Carrie has served as the executive director of New Castle Main Street since its inception in 2014. Carrie grew up in rural Tipton which instilled a strong sense of community. After graduating from IUPUI (a very long time ago), Carrie spent time in Chicago pursuing a career in marketing and public relations. Her husband, a fellow Hoosier, brought her to New Castle for his career. She spends her days in a general state of mild confusion while volunteering for Main Street, driving her two teenage boys around and running after her two naughty dogs.

Visting Henry County? My favorite place in Henry County is downtown New Castle! I love seeing people walking downtown to the boutiques, coffee shop and wine bar. I love to learn about the history of a place and dream about what it could be. I love running into friends as they go about their errands and their days. It makes me happy to see a bustling and pretty downtown.
