Brewing More Than Coffee: Randolph County Entrepreneurs Recognized by the State

September 8, 2026

Throughout this series, Forge ECI is highlighting East Central Indiana entrepreneurs featured in the Indiana Economic Development Corporation’s Entrepreneurship Indiana 2025 publication and our 10th edition of Livability East Central Indiana. Each story celebrates the innovators, problem-solvers, and business leaders whose work strengthens our regional economy and showcases the entrepreneurial spirit that makes East Central Indiana a great place to build a business.

Successful entrepreneurs don’t just open businesses—they create gathering places, strengthen communities, and inspire others to pursue their dreams.

That spirit of entrepreneurship is being recognized statewide. Mariel and Jaime Tapia, owners of a Randolph County coffee shop, were recently featured in the Indiana Economic Development Corporation’s Entrepreneurship Indiana 2025 publication for the positive impact they are making in their community.

Their story is about more than starting a business. It is about creating a place where people connect, relationships are built, and community comes together over a cup of coffee.

Entrepreneurship Builds Strong Communities

Small businesses are the backbone of East Central Indiana’s economy. They create jobs, revitalize downtowns, support local suppliers, and contribute to the unique character that makes each community special.

The Tapias’ recognition is a reminder that entrepreneurship is not limited to major metropolitan areas. Innovative ideas, hard work, and community-focused businesses are thriving throughout East Central Indiana.

Turning Vision Into Reality

Like many entrepreneurs, Mariel and Jaime transformed an idea into something much larger than themselves. Their business has become a destination where residents gather, visitors stop in, and neighbors connect.

Stories like theirs demonstrate the resilience and determination that define many of the region’s small business owners. They also highlight the value of local support systems, including business mentoring, entrepreneurial resources, and community partnerships that help businesses launch and grow.

A Growing Entrepreneurial Ecosystem

Across East Central Indiana, communities are investing in entrepreneurship through business resource centers, small business development programs, downtown revitalization efforts, and networking opportunities that help new ventures succeed.

These investments create an environment where entrepreneurs can take risks, innovate, and contribute to long-term economic growth. Every successful small business strengthens the region’s economy while enhancing the quality of life for residents.

Celebrating Regional Success

At Forge ECI, we believe that every entrepreneurial success story contributes to the larger story of East Central Indiana.

When local business owners receive statewide recognition, it showcases the talent, creativity, and determination that exist throughout our nine-county region. Their achievements help elevate East Central Indiana as a place where innovation is encouraged, businesses are supported, and communities work together to create opportunity.

Congratulations to Mariel and Jaime Tapia on this well-deserved recognition. Their story serves as an inspiration for aspiring entrepreneurs and a reminder that great ideas—and great communities—can grow anywhere.
